Chinese Medicine History

An increase of 1 degree in body temperature creates an environment where cancer cannot be active.

Moxibustion is a Traditional Asian Medicine therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort (moxa) on particular points of the body. Mugwort is a common name of several species of aromatic plants in the genus Artemisia, and are used medicinally especially in Asian traditional medicine. Some mugworts have also been found a use in modern medicine for their anti-herpetic effect. They are also used as a herb to flavour food. In Korea, mugworts were also used for pain, non-medicinal consumption. In South Korea, mugworts are still used as a staple ingredient in many dishes including rice cakes and soup.

One of the quintessential ancient Chinese medical textbooks advise ‘if medicines and acupuncture could not cure a disease in a patient, Moxibustion must be used.’ Licensed Acupuncturists use moxa to warm regions and meridian points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of Blood and Qi.

King Moxibustion can treat conditions associated with the cold or Yang deficiency. It can mitigate against cold and dampness in the body. King Moxibustion is especially effective in the treatment of chronic problems, deficient conditions (weakness), and gerontology (problems of the elderly). One of the most famous Chinese medicine doctors asserted that Moxa could add new energy to the body and could treat both excess and deficient conditions.
